Brokerage accounts offer the same risks as the TSP account and any transfers should require your due diligence to better understand the risk and fees involved. BEFORE AGE 59 1/2
You are eligible for a one time roll out at age 59 & six months. You can continue to work, keep contributing to the TSP just like before but take the existing funds and tuck them away safe bucket, like a Fixed Indexed Annuity with a possible Lifetime Income Rider. The TSP has a selection of individual and lifecycle funds that offer broad market diversification. You can choose to have your retirement dollars invested in everything from a short-term U.S. Treasury security to index funds comprised of domestic and international stocks.
